A Spectacular 36,000 Sq Ft Mural Decorates This Newly-Opened Market Hall In Rotterdam
A fresh marketplace hall has built its doors in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and it’s rotating quite a few heads. The huge Markthal Rotterdam, an inquisitively extended curve of a building, has a 36,000 square foot mural covering its curved ceiling.
The huge mural artists by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, is designated Cornucopia. It features glowingly colored fruits, vegetables, and extra market goods rising into the sky similar the ceiling mural of a cathedral.
The structure, designed by architecture office MVRDV and developer Provast, structures an open food market with 100 additional produce units, 15 food stores and 8 restaurants. There are moreover 228 flats with 1,200 parking areas, making the whole construction somewhat of an independent living space. The Markthal supposes between 4.5 and 7 million guests a year.
